Raising attainment in Mathematics in KS1

Course outline:

This half day course is aimed at class teachers and subject leaders. You do not need to be ‘a tech expert‘ to use IT across the curriculum. Learn about a range of ideas, kit and resources that can be easily used to help raise attainment in KS1 mathematics. There will be an opportunity to share your experiences collectively.  Come along and pick up lots of knowledge from the training consultants.

Course Aims:

Throughout the session we will cover a range of practical activities, all easily accessible for key stage 1 pupils.  As part of the course, you will use a range of kit and software to create fun, stimulating lesson activities which will help raise attainment in KS1 maths.

BGfL 365 offers good elements to support numeracy; if you are already a BGfL 365 school then these are available for you to use now, if not then the j2e tool suite is required. As part of the course, we will explore free apps for iPads which can be used when teaching new concepts and others that use gamification to consolidate learning, along with some of the games available in Purple Mash. Throughout the course, we will offer some suggestions of websites to choose from and you will have an opportunity to share any favourite websites you already use with other delegates.

Course outcome:

By the end of this course, participants will have a better understanding of how they can use IT as an integrated part of their lessons. The aim of the course is that delegates will feel confident in their ability to create a range of fun, engaging activities for their classes and to be in a position to share their new found expertise with colleagues in school.
