The CyberFirst Girls Competition 2018

cyberfirst 80Registration for the #CyberFirst Girls Competition is now open and has newly created challenges to test ingenuity and team work.

Launched by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), this is a unique opportunity for teams of Year 8 school girls to compete in fun, online cyber security challenges. The organisers hope the competition will encourage participants to consider choosing computer science, maths or other STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects as an option.

The competition consists of two distinct phases:

  • an online 'qualifying round' to identify the top ten teams
  • the 'Grand Final’, where the top ten teams will tackle a real-world scenario at a location in Manchester

Whatever the girls' ability - from beginner to expert - they'll definitely learn something new about cyber security.

Schools can now register and enter their teams at the CyberFirst Girls Competition website.
