Ransomware - Advice for Schools

You may have recently heard about fraudsters targeting UK schools, demanding payments of up to £8,000 to unlock data they have encrypted with malware (Malicious Software). The criminals are initially cold-calling schools, claiming to be from the Department of Education, (the correct name is the Department for Education) and once they have the required email addresses, they forward documents which include file-freezing malware, also known as Ransomware.
